Qualifications

    • Allen Lim Chen Jye is a recognised authority in wealth succession and planned giving, and one of Singapore’s most decorated financial planning practitioners. Conferred the IBF Fellow distinction in 2021 under Financial Planning — the highest individual honour by the Institute of Banking & Finance — Allen’s career stands at the intersection of technical rigour, practitioner education, and client-centred advisory.
    • Allen champions the concept of scenario gaming, a distinctive and logical approach that guides clients in discovering their own capital, liquidity, and income needs across situations involving death, disability, retirement, and other life-changing events. This framework reflects his conviction that good financial planning is not about selling solutions, but about helping clients arrive at their own clarity.
    • A committed builder of professional standards, Allen served as an EXCO member of the Insurance and Financial Practitioners Association of Singapore (IFPAS), where from 2016 to 2021 he built a comprehensive learning ecosystem for licensed financial practitioners. This included technical and back-to-basics workshop series, an HNW certification course developed jointly by practitioners and academia, a bi-weekly publication called Tuesday Times encouraging deliberate reading and writing, and a dedicated ethics course addressing real-world dilemmas in financial practice.
    • Beyond the profession, Allen led a working committee under the SG Youth Action Plan, collaborating with the National Youth Council and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to empower young Singaporeans in managing their financial well-being. His contribution was framed around the C.A.P.S. concept — wealth Creation, Accumulation, Protection, and Succession.
    • Allen speaks on topics spanning legacy planning, wealth succession, practitioner ethics, and client engagement for high-net-worth individuals.

When You’re Gone: Engineering Wealth That Outlasts You

Most people accumulate wealth. Few design what happens to it. In this session, Allen introduces the concept of scenario gaming — a structured method for uncovering a client’s true capital, liquidity, and income needs across death, disability, and special situations. Advisers leave with a repeatable framework for opening legacy conversations that clients actually want to have.

The C.A.P.S. Blueprint: A Practitioner’s Guide to Holistic Wealth Succession

Wealth succession is not a product — it is a process. Allen walks through the Creation, Accumulation, Protection, and Succession framework and how advisers can use it to structure client conversations from first appointment to estate transfer. Practical, sequenced, and immediately applicable.

Retiring the Guesswork / Advising the HNW Client: What Changes, What Doesn’t

How Scenario Gaming Reframes Retirement Planning Retirement planning fails when it relies on assumptions instead of discovery. Allen shares how scenario gaming helps clients surface their own retirement income needs — making the adviser a facilitator of clarity rather than a seller of solutions. A mindset and methodology shift for advisers ready to elevate their retirement conversations.

High-net-worth clients bring greater complexity — but the fundamentals of trust and discovery remain the same. Drawing from his work developing Singapore’s first practitioner-built HNW certification curriculum, Allen unpacks what advisers need to know before stepping into the premium market: the right questions, the right competencies, and the right positioning.
